Educational Service Unit #3 (ESU #3) and Brook Valley North School are seeking a dedicated and visionary building Principal to support our mission of providing top-tier services to students with complex disabilities. We are looking for a collaborative and compassionate individual to lead a team of educators, focusing on positive behavior interventions and specialized programming. As the Brook Valley North Principal, you will oversee both the daily operations and long-term vision of the school, ensuring that students gain the skills they need to increase their independence and prepare for their next phase of life.

Brook Valley North is a Level 3 Special Education program that provides intensive services for K-12+ students with Intellectual Disabilities, Autism and other complex support needs. We offer:

Compensation & Benefits:

Employment Type:  Full-Time, 220 Days

Salary:  Negotiable, based on education & experience within the range of $90,000+

EDUCATIONAL SERVICE UNIT #3

JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title:  Brook Valley School Principal

Job Title Code:  7009

Number of Days Worked:  Works 5 days a week.  8:00 am - 4:30 pm.  220 days

Department:  ESU #3, Student Services

FLSA Status:  Exempt

Immediate Supervisor:  Executive Director of Student Services

Staff Supervised:  Brook Valley School Staff  

Essential Requirements:  

  1. No history of child abuse or negligence.

  2. Minimum of MA/MS in administration

  3. Five years of classroom teaching experience, Special Education preferred

  4. Current NE Teaching Certification/ K-12 NE Administration Certificate

  5. Successfully pass required background checks.

  6. Regular and dependable in person attendance is required and is considered a condition of employment.      

Essential Responsibilities:  

  1. Supervise Brook Valley School staff and through ESU #3 evaluation procedures, informal evaluations, and activities

  2. Supervise services provided to contracted students including referral, intake, formation and implementation of the Individual Education Plan

  3. Use data-based decision making to lead problem-solving at the individual student level, classroom level, and for building-wide program evaluation  

  4. Supervise and maintain student records and educational files for Brook Valley School

  5. Coordinate the acquisition of supplies and maintain building safety and operations, including physical maintenance of the facility with appropriate ESU #3 and school district staff

  6. Coordinate recruitment of personnel including: interviewing and providing recommendations for hiring, onboarding, and new staff training & orientation

  7. Design and implement a school improvement plan and corresponding professional learning plan for Brook Valley School.   

  8. Coordinate the representation of Brook Valley School to the educational community, the community at large, and families

  9. Maintain positive relations and communication with colleagues, parents, school representatives, medical professionals, students and the community members at large

  10. Monitor compliance with current state and federal regulatory requirements

  11. Assist in preparation of budgetary/financial records

  12. Communicate and provide information to the ESU #3 administration, as well as the ESU #3 Board and the ESU #3 Student Services Stakeholders

  13. Assist in the supervision of the meal service program for Brook Valley School

  14. Maintain the positive culture and philosophy of Brook Valley School

  15. Communicate areas of concern to appropriate ESU #3 Administrators

  16. Understand and comply with the ESU #3 Board of Education Personnel  Policies and Employee Handbook

  17. Perform other duties as assigned

School principals employed at Brook Valley School must be fully capable of performing each of the ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES set forth above as well as each of the ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS set forth in Exhibit A attached hereto at all times of employment, with or without reasonable accommodations approved by the ESU #3 CEO or designee.
