AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Civil Engineer to support geotechnical, civil infrastructure, and mine tailings projects as part of the Mining group in Denver, Colorado. The position will involve working on mine tailings dam and water dam projects to conduct geotechnical investigations and analyses.

This position is expected to begin in May or June 2025.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning, implementing, and overseeing geotechnical exploration programs (30% travel/field time).

  • Assisting with laboratory testing assignments.

  • Performing geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses.

  • Preparing calculation packages.

  • Assisting with the development of geotechnical reports, drawings and specifications.

  • Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal team.

  • Review geotechnical instrumentation and assist with the preparation of instrumentation monitoring reports.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

  • BA/BS in Civil Engineering + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required to regularly drive AECOM vehicles to project sites.

Preferred Qualifications

  • EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.

  • Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Emphasis.

  • Basic Knowledge of industry software such as GeoStudio, Utexas, Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D.

  • Field/Construction experience; dams experience a plus.

  • Familiarity with design reports, drawings and specifications.

  • Excellent Verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment.

  • Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility.

  • Resourceful, highly organized, and detail oriented.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

  • Effective time-management and interpersonal Skills.

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
