Position Summary: The Human Resources Specialist, serves as the primary liaison for day-to-day HR operations, providing employees with expert guidance and seamless support on HR policies, procedures, and inquiries. Exceptional customer service, characterized by responsiveness, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented approach, is fundamental to this role.

Position requirements

Education: High school or equivalent - required. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related field - preferred.

Licensure: N/A

Certification: N/A

Experience: 2+ years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, preferred.

Essential Job Functions

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for team members, providing timely and professional assistance with HR-related inquiries, policies, and procedures.
  • Function as a culture ambassador, promoting the organization's values and experience uniqueness.
  • Champion a service mindset, with a commitment to address the needs of our customers through effective communication, support, initiative-taking, and problem solving.
  • Actively seek feedback to continuously improve HR services.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by responding to employee questions regarding benefits, payroll, leave of absence, and HRIS processes with empathy and accuracy.
  • Manage HR workflows in the HRIS system, including onboarding, offboarding, and employee changes, ensuring a smooth and positive experience.
  • Assist with benefits administration, including guiding employees through life events, leave requests, and enrollment processes.
  • Facilitate new hire orientation by preparing materials, coordinating logistics, and ensuring a welcoming experience for new employees.
  • Oversee company store and uniform orders, resolving issues efficiently while maintaining a high level of service.
  • Maintain accurate electronic employee records, ensuring compliance with licensure and certification requirements.
  • Support employee engagement efforts by participating in HR initiatives that foster a positive workplace culture.
  • Handle employment verifications and unemployment claims with professionalism and discretion.
  • Assist in HR audits and compliance reporting to ensure adherence to company policies and legal requirements.
  • Participate in team member engagement initiatives to enhance morale and foster a positive organizational culture.
  • Develop and maintain effective communication channels (including newsletter, website, emails, etc.) to ensure team members are informed about OrthoNebraska news, updates, and resources.
  • Collaborate with HR team members to address team member concerns and provide support on HR-related issues. Assist with HR administrative tasks, including maintaining team member records, processing paperwork, and updating HR systems. Support the HR team in executing HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure team members have access to necessary resources and support services, such as mental health resources, team member assistance programs, and professional development opportunities.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Physical requirements: This position is classified as Sedentary Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 10-pounds of force occasionally (up to 33% of the time) and /or a negligible amount of force frequently (33%-66% of the time) to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
